چکیده

Background Sufficient peri-vascular fat suppression is critical for the outer wall boundary delineation in vessel wall imaging. The MSDE technique has been shown to significantly improve the blood suppression efficiency and measurement reproducibility. A limitation is that, due to the uncompensated eddy currents, undesired frequency shift can be observed after the MSDE prepulse, making the spectrally selective fat suppression ineffective. The aim of this study is to explore whether a previously proposed improved MSDE (iMSDE) technique is more robust against this system imperfection than the conventional MSDE approach, thus improving the fat suppression efficiency in vivo.

Optimization of Improved Motion-sensitized Driven-equilibrium (iMSDE) blood suppression for carotid artery wall imaging

BACKGROUND Improved motion-sensitized driven-equilibrium (iMSDE) preparations have been successfully used in carotid artery wall imaging to achieve blood suppression, but it causes notable signal loss, mostly due to inherent T2 decay, eddy current effects and B1 + inhomogeneity. In this study, we investigate the signal to noise ratio (SNR) and blood suppression performance of iMSDE using compos...

Assessment of improved motion-sensitized driven equilibrium (iMSDE) for multi-contrast vessel wall screening.

PURPOSE We assessed the improved motion-sensitized driven equilibrium (iMSDE) technique for multiple contrast 3-dimensional vessel wall imaging at 3T. METHODS Carotid images were obtained using iMSDE combined with turbo field echo (iMSDE-TFE) and conventional double inversion-recovery turbo spin-echo (DIR-TSE) in 5 healthy adult subjects. The tissue signal-to-noise efficiency (SNReff), SNR di...

Time-Efficient Black Blood RCA Wall Imaging at 3T Using Improved Motion Sensitized Driven Equilibrium (iMSDE): Feasibility and Reproducibility

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to explore the feasibility and reproducibility of a time-efficient coronary vessel wall measurement approach using an improved motion-sensitized driven equilibrium (iMSDE) pulse sequence. METHODOLOGY In this study, the iMSDE pulse sequence was first optimized and then applied on a group of healthy volunteers (N = 10) to evaluate its feasibility of vessel w...

Sub-minute 3D black-blood imaging of the whole heart with isotropic spatial resolution

Introduction Evaluation of cardiac morphology is an important part of routine diagnostic applications of cardiac MRI in various pathological conditions, such as congenital abnormalities, myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathies, and tumors. A previous technical approach for morphological cardiac MRI is based on a 2D black-blood fast spin-echo sequence with double inversion-recovery (DIR) blood s...

The Optimization of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Pulse Sequences in Order to Better Detection of Multiple Sclerosis Plaques

Background and objective: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive technique to detect multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques in central nervous system. In some cases, the patients who were suspected to MS, Whereas MRI images are normal, but whether patients don’t have MS plaques or MRI images are not enough optimized enough in order to show MS plaques? The aim of the current study is ...
